Building coordinator

Description:

The Building Coordinator is an event-driven support position that provides physical support and oversees projects and employee productivity int he areas of housekeeping, show care, room sets, event teardown, arena conversations, convention services, and grounds maintenance at the Iowa Events Center.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Leads small teams on tasks and projects overseeing work quality and productivity
  • Provides daily training and coaching to part-time staff members in day-to-day activities
  • Operates an assortment of equipment including, but not limited to, forklifts, pallet jacks, buffers, burnishers, rider sweepers.
Catering Coordinator

Description:

The Catering Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Assistant General Manager (AGM) of Catering, Sr. Catering Manager, Catering Department and Culinary Department operation with administrative functions related to providing support for events, temporary staff coordination and other duties as assigned.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to the Catering & Culinary Departments with coordination and communication of all Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) on department posting boards, including operation set-up notes.
  • Updates the BEO Book promptly for accurate communication between departments.
  • Receives new hire information from Human Resources. Provide department orientation/training to new Catering employees.
Engineer

Description:

The Engineer performs skilled journey level and lead-work duties on the technical operation of critical facility systems, performing facility & equipment maintenance/troubleshooting, and system monitoring under general direction.  Employee performs advanced work in the maintenance and repair of steam-generating boilers, electrical generating equipment & auxiliary systems, and centralized air-conditioning systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs maintenance and repair of facility equipment, auxiliary systems, and minor electrical and plumbing repairs
  • Performs routine preventative maintenance on equipment and auxiliary systems; oils and lubricates fans, motors, pumps, and generators, cleans screens, strainers, burners, and automatic controls
  • Accurately and timely performs tasks to ensure the highest level of efficiency in the operation returning equipment to operational status
  • Troubleshoots and recommends operational methods and procedures
Guest Services Manager

Description:

The Guest Services Manager is responsible for scheduling and all departmental activities pertaining to Guest Services, Police, move in/out, and guest related medical services including First Aid event staffing. Position is accountable for providing a safe and enjoyable arena environment for guests and staff and serves as on-site manager for most events. Ensures that staff has appropriate knowledge and tools, through teaching and quality control, in order to attain service goals set by company and department.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages all Guest Service activities for events at Iowa Events Center to ensure a high level of guest satisfaction in all pertinent areas of event experience
  • Develops, maintains, and implements all training activities for part-time employees within the Guest Services staff
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training department employees
  • Act as facility contact for all event related complaints, including but not limited to, answering incoming emails, calls, and event concerns
Operations Intern

Description:

The Operations Intern gives students the opportunity to go behind the curtains to understand what it takes to flip the arena from an Iowa Wild hockey game to a rock concert to NCAA Men’s Basketball. 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in scheduling personnel and tasks for day-to-day operations as well as event set-up, event management, and event teardown
  • Shadow Operations Supervisors to gain an understanding of how to manage, direct, and motivate Operations crew before, during, and after an event
  • Learn how a capital expenditure budget is developed and prioritized from year to year
Group Sales Intern

Description:

The Group Sales Internship gives students the opportunity to go behind the curtains to understand how to sell tickets to a  variety of events from concerts, conventions, family shows, athletic events, and more, build relationships, and help promote events. 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the Promotion of family shows, concerts, and sporting events to group sales customers
  • Learn and perform sales process and selling techniques with both current and prospective clients
  • Assist with the research of target markets, create promotional materials and develop and implement event promotions
  • Assist Group Sales Manager with day-of event process, including group sales programs along with meet and greets
