construction technician

This position will construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures using hand tools and power tools.

Measure and mark cutting lines on materials, using ruler, pencil, chalk.
Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
Verify trueness of structure, using plumb bob, and level.
Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, and powers saw
Study specifications in blueprints, sketches or drawings to determine dimensions and materials required.
Assemble and fasten materials to make framework or props using hand tools, and wood screws, nails, or glue.
Build or repair cabinets, frameworks, floors, and other wooden fixtures.
Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level.
Remove damaged or defective parts of fixtures and structures and repair or replace, using hand tools.
Maintain records, document actions and present written reports.
Finish surfaces of wood, or wallboard, using paint, and hand tools.
Inspect ceiling or floor tile, wall coverings, and woodwork to detect broken or damaged structures.
Work with and/or remove hazardous materials.
Construct forms and for pouring concrete.
Perform minor plumbing, welding and/or concrete mixing work.

High School Diploma

Preferred, not required

Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as; climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of heavy materials are required.

Must be able to travel overnight and some weekends.
You will be out of town and away from friends and family up to four (4) nights per week. You will spend approximately 80% of your work time out of town.
Weekend Work – Some remodel work will require late Saturday night and Sunday work. Approximately one (1) weekend per month.
Additional Information:

When traveling overnight, hotel rooms will be shared with another crew member.
A per diem is available to cover food expenses when traveling.
Benefits are the same as retail employees.
Carpooling will occur to reduce expenses. Truck or van is required.
You are required to provide your own general construction hand tools.
