Refinery Technician

Refinery Technician – $21.39/hr

Job Description:

We are looking for versatile individuals who would like to work for a large agribusiness at our Des Moines Soybean Oil Refinery.

Job Responsibilities:

  • The manufacturing plant runs 24 hours per day and the workforce rotates through all four shifts. Shifts are 8-12 hours each.
  • The duties of the position include loading trucks and rail cars and cleaning filters and equipment in a food processing facility.
  • After some experience is obtained at the refinery the individual would progress to process control and oil analysis

Requirements:

Potential applicants must desire to work in a variety of positions including manufacturing, laboratory, and control room environments
One to two years of manufacturing experience is desirable and a strong interest in science is recommended

Production Specialist

Production Specialist – $20.00/hr

Job Description:

You will gain knowledge of the facility, general department knowledge, and handle tasks through completion of tasks and look for ways to improve the process and personal performance. Production Specialists are expected to perform a variety of jobs, tasks or duties as assigned including responsible for bagging all finished product and/or completing the cut-in operations; ensuring the correct ingredients are added to the correct mixing system at the correct time.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work in a fast-paced environment to complete various processes including weighing, bagging, packing, unpacking, labeling, and storing products and sanitizing around facility (sweeping, compressed air cleaning) in proper packaging as stated on the BMI
  • Ensure finished product amount is accurate when compared to the BMI
  • Ensure the proper material is bagged within the correct labeled container and is within weight tolerances
  • Verify the lot number, pallet cards, product code, and tag code listed on the ingredient is placed on the batch ticket and the label affixed to the labeled container is present, accurate and legible.
  • Responsible for the addition of all hand add ingredients to the correct mixer at the proper time
  • Retrieve ingredients from the staging areas and place by the correct mixer; verify the correct number of ingredients are staged and initialed off on the BMI
  • Verify the lot number listed on the bagged ingredient is placed on the batch ticket
  • Verify that the components and amounts are correct when batch is completed
  • Responsible for ensuring area is kept clean and document all listed housekeeping duties on Sanitation records have been completed
  • Follow all cut-in procedures as outlined in Standard Operation Procedures
  • Interact regularly with peers and management to pursue continuous improvement of facility operations and promote a teamwork focused environment
  • Communicate with team/shift employees concerning proper operation of equipment, changes in flow rates or processing capabilities safety concerns, product quality issues and maintenance issues
  • Understand and adhere to ADM’s Safety, Environmental Compliance and Food Quality and goal of achieving a zero-injury culture.
  • Maintaining a safe and clean work environment
  • Exhibit regular and prompt attendance and maintain attendance record in accordance with company policy
  • After training, operate equipment associated with the loadout and unloading process for bulk materials including trucks and/or rail cars, utilizing scales, pumps, conveyor, etc.

Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
  • Ability to understand and effectively communicate in English (verbal/written)
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in production and/or similar military environment (preferred)

On-the-Job Training Requirements:

  • Complete ADM safety, food safety, quality, and environmental training
  • Participate in company planned operations training
  • Equipment training may include but not limited to JLG, forklift, non-DOT truck, reach lift, etc.

Working Conditions

  • Ambient conditions – Work area is, typically, a non-air-conditioned production environment. Hot or cold Temperatures, all seasonal elements, both indoors and outdoors
  • Atmosphere: Dust, cotton, canola seed, and odor
  • Must be able to work around noise levels that may reach or exceed 85 decibels and require use of hearing protection for most of the work shift
  • Company provided protective clothing required: Uniforms, hardhats, earplugs, safety glasses, hair restraints, steel-toed shoes, gloves, and safety harness may be required based on task performed; employees are required to wear all required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) (i.e., hard-hats, safety glasses, earplugs, uniforms, and steel-toed boots) in addition to job specific PPE requirements.
  • Must adhere to food grade quality standards (i.e., no jewelry, piercings, etc.)

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to move about or to a work site by ascending/descending stairs, bending, kneeling and prolonged periods of standing and sitting, stooping, bending, kneeling, or squatting frequently
  • Ability to operate equipment or machinery that may be located at different heights; may require work on ladders, scaffolding or other work at heights or in confined spaces
  • Ability to lift and transport materials and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds on a frequent basis, up to 55 pounds on an occasional basis and up to 50 pounds overhead
  • Requires ability and willingness to wear respirators *Employees in roles that require respirators will need to be clean shaven.
  • Ability to traverse up to two (2) miles during the course of a workday

CoGen Utility

CoGen Utility – $26.34/hr

Job Description:

Power Plant Utility/Operator – Co-Generation Plant – Des Moines, IA

This is a Utility position for the ADM Co- Generation plant in Des Moines. Utility employee applicants must have the aptitude and develop the skillset necessary to advance to the Operator positions at the location. New hires placed directly into an Assistant Operator position, must learn and qualify for the Utility position within 9 months

Job Responsbilities:

  • Focus on safety, quality and integrity.
  • Shift operation (procedures) and equipment checks.
  • Water treatment lab tests.
  • Generate accurate legible documentation and log records.
    Troubleshoot and perform basic maintenance on Co-Gen equipment and auxiliaries.
  • Receiving and material handling, coal/chemicals/ash/materials.

Requirements:

  • Applicant must possess basic math, science, and problem solving skills.
  • Applicant must be able to work in all types of climates both inside and out including extreme hot and cold temperatures, noisy environments, heights, dusty environments, all of which require use of Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Applicant must be able to stand for long periods, work in confined spaces and have good physical dexterity; i.e., bend, kneel, climb steps and ladders, and lift 50 Lbs.
    With training, the applicant must be able to operate heavy equipment including overhead cranes, pay-loaders, forklifts, and skid-steers.
  • Attendance and punctuality is required including some mandatory overtime.
  • All employees are subject to random drug screens
    Applicant must have the ability to work independently in an organized safe manner.

Job Summary

  • The Maintenance position provides maintenance support to the Des Moines, IA premix facility. Job duties include preventive maintenance work and routine maintenance on production equipment.
  • Respond to requests to address and diagnose operation mechanical problems where equipment is not operating correctly
  • Disassemble, repair, replace, rebuild, and install mechanical equipment in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Perform regular inspections of production equipment and performing preventive maintenance duties
    Collaborate with management and other colleagues in decisions concerning maintenance problems regarding equipment
    Fabricate parts for use in maintenance and/or electrical tasks.
  • Weld parts for use in maintenance and/or electrical tasks.
  • Collect/test all required water samples (i.e. boilers, cooling towers, waste water, reclaim system and similar systems) and make changes based on the test results to maintain equipment integrity.
  • Perform semi-skilled to unskilled labor duties related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of various electrical systems and equipment.
  • Provide on-call coverage
    Responsible for ensuring area is kept clean and document all listed housekeeping duties on Sanitation records have been completed
    Order and inventory parts, equipment and/or tools as assigned by lead.
